What do you need to let God take control of in your life?

“This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created. When the LORD God made the earth and the heavens- and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground- [Genesis 2:4-6]

What or where in your life are you striving to maintain control in your own strength? How is that going? How might you relinquish that again to God, and let Him take control?

  1. I wish I could have God write my daily schedules. Including detailed instructions on the tasks he would like me to focus on. I often feel that I am heading in so many directions and trying to do so many things. I wonder where He really wants me to be, and what it is that I am meant to do. My fear is that I will miss something or someone I was meant to help. I love the song The Motions by Matthew West. My favorite lines are “I don’t want to go one more day without Your all consuming passion inside of me. I don’t want to spend my whole life asking – what if I had given everything!” I think I just need to settle down and let Jesus take the wheel (another great song) and know that he will lead me if take the time to pray and listen to Him!

  2. The area I struggle with is my addiction to food. I surender it to God and then I take control again and again. I just read a book by Jentezen Franklin called Fasting. He said there is power in prayer, but that it is magnified when we fast and pray. Jesus didn't say "IF" you fast and pray. He said WHEN you fast...
I am fasting to get closer to God so I can hear what he has to say to me. I pray that he will break the addiction for me and for my whole family.

  3. I am really struck by "streams came up from the earth and watered...the ground." Sounds like what the Holy Spirit does inside us if we let go and listen to His voice. With the new addition to our family I have lost even more "control" of my life. I wonder if it may actually be helping hear His voice more clearly. It stands out as the confident, quiet voice of direction and hope.
