“Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” [Mark 6:31]
Part of Life Balance is leaning that we need to rest. This scripture verse appeared in our signpost open worship this week. Sometimes just getting away for a few minutes in the middle of a stressful day is just what we need to tackle that stress. If the stress of the day has you in a tizzy, try stepping a way for a 5 mins. Take a breather, and say this verse to yourself. Than ask God to help you through your tough situation. Then go! You will be calm and ready to tackle that stress the best you can. Remember you have God in you corner!
So tell us – How do you strive to reach Life Balance?

I have a few favorite verses (like Hebrews 4:14-16) like the one above that I say to myself. And for me, getting away to play piano for a few minutes or to simply be in a quiet place (like driving in a car without the radio), or putting in ear plugs (yes, I carry them with me all the time now!) at work for awhile are helpful for me. I've not been good about taking a whole day "off", but am working on getting there, b/c that is not healthy! Life balance is such a critical area...
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of my boss at the Law Firm in Seattle. We would be right in the middle of a big stressful rush project, and she would make us all step away, and go buy us a coffee. When we can back, we always worked better and together! What a wonderful job and life lesson!
ReplyDeleteI have definately been hearing from God lately about my need to work on life balance! I think it's the "theme" of this Lenten season for me. I have been so wrapped up in being SUPERMOMMY that I have let things get off-kilter. The steps I'm taking to balance things out are: daily quiet time with God (no matter how the day is going!), napping with Shep when I am tired (it's amazing how much easier life is when you get enough sleep!), and trading off babysitting with the wonderful Jenns in my life (Harris & Linton).

Psalm 46:10: Be still and KNOW that I am God- this is such a calming verse for me. As is Matthew 11:28- Come unto me all who are weary and I will give you rest.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to listen to the songs by Steven Curtis Chapman and Nicole C. Mullen which speak these words. Sometimes nothing calms my weary soul like listening to these songs!
